INFRASTRUCTURE SPECIALIST, NETWORK SERVICES

Our client is a medium size organization, with offices throughout Canada. The IT department supports nearly 3000 end users.

We have been engaged to identify and present an Infrastructure Specialist to join their team. The Required candidate will be involved in both operational/support issues as well as on-going projects and initiatives, ranging for Data Center Migrations to virtualization and security assessments/upgrades.

The Infrastructure Specialist will:

  • Provide Cisco Call Manager configuration, especially backend configuration and optimization
  • Provide Level 2/Level 3 support of IP telephone systems, including Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity voicemail systems and fax
  • Optimize the availability of network systems architectures to deliver cost-effective improvements that, in turn, deliver tangible business benefits
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for network-related infrastructures on a rotational basis
  • Ensure network infrastructure and related platforms are available and performing optimally
  • Monitor and analyze alerts and logs to identify potential issues with network infrastructure systems
  • Apply operating system security updates and change configuration management
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure problems as per established SLAs
  • Install and configure new hardware, software, storage and virtual servers for new projects
  • Remediate the threats to network infrastructure identified from security advisory reports
  • Maintaining and updating infrastructure diagrams
  • Keep documentation up to date to meet ISO27001 standards

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an infrastructure services role
  • Experience in Cisco Voice configuration and support, as well as telephony technologies, MPLS, Cisco switches and routers
  • Working experience in network administration, routing protocols and network access control solutions (NAC)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Ability to perform firmware upgrade to switches
  • Working knowledge of VMware virtualization, SAN Storage, Microsoft server OS and Active Directory
  • Ability to prepare requirements, design and schedule time for assigned projects based on IT department’s project management standards
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain relationships with users and vendors
  • Ability to implement the necessary tools to proactively monitor, troubleshoot and, where necessary, assist and provide support to third parties to solve network connectivity problems
  • Working knowledge of wireless, IDS/IPS, firewall and RSA
  • Ability to provide daily support on Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Windows Services
  • Data Centre experience, including cabling and installation, would be an asset
  • There may be a requirement for periodic weekend and after-hour work, depending on business needs. Some travel may also be required.
